Alien vs. Predator 2: AVP2AVP2: Alien versus Predator 2. This game is one of the most immersive, engaging games you and your friends will ever play. Imagine you and 8 of your friends are together on LAN at a friends house. The lights are down low and the speakers are turned up. 2 of your friends are playing as Aliens, 1 as a Predator and the last 5 are playing as the Marines. You can hear your friends hearts pounding as you make your way through the facility, motion sensors, are quiet...then "bleep, bleep, bleep"...the Aliens are closing in..."What was that?" someone gulps as you hear a Predator yell from accross the complex. The motion sensors are going nuts...."LIGHT EM UP!" Someone screams. Rifles begin to fire, the Aliens drop down from the ceiling where they have been waiting and....it's all good fun from there. ;)

AVP2 takes play to a whole new level. It has 3 species (Human, Alien and Predator) all with their own secret weapons, skills and weaknesses. The Predators even come with all the cool visuals from the movie (ie: infrared, alien view etc). The sounds will be familar as they are almost identical from the movies.

The game boasts 3 FULL single player campaigns (one for each species). Each one a completely different experience from the others. Each campaign allows a player to learn all the ins and outs of each species. This experience comes in handy when it comes to playing multiplayer.

Multiplayer (the stuff that matters):
The multiplayer options are good, with the usual Survivor, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Hunt. You can have up to 16 players in a map which is great for LAN play.

Okay here's where the game fell from splendor. AVP2 already has so many fans built in because of the AVP and the movies (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Ressurection and Predator I and II), so why oh why did they not include MULTIPLAYER CO-OP through the campaigns? Do they not know how fun it would be to play through the Marines campaign with 3 or more buddies at their side? Imagine the dark corridors of the installation with a couple of marine buds, lighting up Aliens as they come crawling along the ceiling...AWESOME!

Having added mutiplay capability through the single player campaigns would have made AVP2 a contender for epic, extraordinary, better than Hidden and Dangerous (except for there being no Germans), best game of all time status...but alas they cheaped out. Still one of the best games of all time...but not quite the top.
