RTCW
is the sequel to the game that basically spawned the FPS genre.
Built on the Quake III engine, it is solid and stable. The graphics are very pleasing to the eye and the ambiance in the levels is well done.
RTCW is more of
a fantasy game rather than a historical (thinking Medal of Honour, Hidden and
Dangerous or Battlefield 1942) one. The game is set in WWII, and you play a
Special Forces operative charged with infiltrating the Third Reich's Castle
Wolfenstein to see what Hier Himiler is up to. He seems to be hell bent on genetic
experiments and the occult aka bringing nasty sh*t back from the dead...NICE!
The single player
experience in this game is a lot of fun and the mulitplay is the usual Q3 driven
splatter fest.
Some of the cool
additions to RTCW are character classes (like Team Fortress) where you can play
as a medic (able to revive injured buddies), engineer (able to blow things up)
or as a sniper (HEELLLO!). The lack of environmental interaction is made up
by the great looks of the game.
Multiplayer (the stuff that matters):
RTCW, being built
on the Q3 engine means it has the same ROCK SOLID performance in mulitplayer.
The addition of the player classes really adds a much needed element of strategy
to the multiplayer experience.
All in all, RTCW
is an awesome game about the only additional thing I would have liked to see
would be MULTIPLAYER CO-OP through the single player campaign.
